Marginalia: 6.5.09

Doo doo doo doo dooo..wah wah wah. Aaand E3’s over.  We made it, everyone.  Here’s what everyone not hungover from the party convention is writing about:

GamePolitics: EA staged a protest of its upcoming Dante's Inferno game. Does anybody even do non-viral advertising anymore?

Kotaku: Pulling numbers out of his arse, Satoru Iwata says there will, someday, be a new Nintendo console, and that it will probably support high definition. I imagine they're too busy diving in their piles of money to have actually started work on it, though.

Destructoid: Stand by for Mass Effect DLC.

Destructoid: EA blames its losses on "too many original IPs." Baby drowns in bathwater; parents blame bathtub?

Gamasutra: Feargus Urquhart has a silly name and an awesome resume (Fallout 2, Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment).  He’s got a few other projects in the pipeline, including Fallout: New Vegas.  In this interview with Ben Fritz, Urquhart talks about the ubiquity of character customization, how RPG elements can be “mainstreamed,” and the future of his new company Obsidian Entertainment.

Crispy Gamer: Assuming you care about Gamerscores, here’s a fun piece with some recommendations for shoring up your list of Achievements.
