The critic (read: relentlessly unhappy, small little man) in me still thinks Avatar looks like Aliens crossed with Fern Gully with the robots from Matrix: Revolutions tossed in. But there&amp;#39;s some ineffable Cameronness about the panning shots of Marines running through the jungle. (I think Terminator 2, Titanic, and now Avatar each held the record for Most Expensive Movie at some point). There was a cool New Yorker article about him a few weeks ago. Basically the producers of Titanic were convinced it was going to be the next &amp;quot;Waterworld&amp;quot; disaster and tried to stop the cash flow. James Cameron basically ignored them and just kept spending their money.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If he ever makes a movie that doesn&amp;#39;t do well at the box office, he&amp;#39;s going to have a lot of explaining to do.</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/8584167718205869396/3893276896721161009/comments/default/6800800738504466436'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/8584167718205869396/3893276896721161009/comments/default/6800800738504466436'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://www.charge-shot.com/2009/11/mopping-up-culture-vomit-im-jordan.html?showComment=1257387597140#c6800800738504466436' title=''/><author><name>Chris</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/17976852392981544985</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:extendedProperty xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' name='OpenSocialUserId' value='16789753777863661907'/></author><thr:in-reply-to xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0' href='http://www.charge-shot.com/2009/11/mopping-up-culture-vomit-im-jordan.html' ref='tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8584167718205869396.post-3893276896721161009' source='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/8584167718205869396/posts/default/3893276896721161009' type='text/html'/></entry></feed>
