I still call it "shock-jockeying."

This game is not experimental. It is not innovative. It does not forward the medium in any meaningful way. It merely changes who you're shooting and why. The best games, the memorable ones, the ones that influence other games and have a lasting effect on the form, change how.

New rule: If you can use "ripped from today's headlines" to describe it, go back to the drawing board.

From what I've read of the segment, there's no forcing going on. You never have to pull the trigger on a civilian. But you do have to fall in line with a bunch of people who are gunning civilians. It's a fine line, but worth noting, because it applies directly to the medium.

The game is presenting you with a system in which you can act within certain parameters. You cannot shoot the bad guys. You can only shoot good guys. You don't technically have to shoot, but this simple rule switch can be unsettling enough.

I also find it interesting that IW has included the option to actually skip the sequence. What will a player get if they do this? A cut scene? A trailer for 24?
